Michelin and its partners selected by NASA for phase 1 of the ARTEMIS project! NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration just announced that the Moon RACER Team, which includes Michelin, has been awarded the Lunar Terrain Vehicle Phase 1 Feasibility Study. The team, led by Intuitive Machines, also includes AVL, Boeing and Northrop Grumman Corporation. We will leverage the experience gained from previous collaborations with NASA and our expertise in airless technology and high-tech materials to take up the challenge of designing a lunar wheel able to operate at temperatures above 100°C and below -240°C, withstand exposure to solar and galactic radiation, preserve the rover battery autonomy and ensure maximum longevity and traction on aggressive loose soil. We are convinced that the technical developments and scientific advances that will be made as part of this project will enable us to continue to innovate in terrestrial applications. To infinity and beyond 🌕 ! Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gpvGsQ6w
La transformation du groupe se poursuit, bravo aux équipes !
Michelin’s airless expertise taken to a whole new level!!! Congrats to the Intuitive Machines Moon RACER Team!
Bridgesone? In exchange for a lunar rover, Japan will get seats on Moon-landing missions https://arstechnica.com/space/2024/04/japan-will-be-first-among-nasas-partners-to-have-an-astronaut-on-the-moon/
I hope for a smooth ride up there ...by all means, my son would love to get a Lego version to buy in our shop 😇
Will there be any rCB (recovered carbon black) in the Moon Tires? We have already done our best to pollute the earth, let Micheline be the pioneere that brings circularity to the moon!
Incredible product. The appearance is futuristic and refined. The supreme expression of artistry, flair, technology and science.

3wI like there tires, I have them on my car. In the the lunar environment, the tires will have to be made out of something besides rubber it will be interesting what they will come up with. I imagine in one sixth earth gravity it will have some interesting traction issues. It's also going to need at least a small amount of cargo capacity. It will be an interesting project to work on.
