C\u2019est la raison pour laquelle la plupart des centrales de grande puissance dans le monde sont construites pr\u00e8s d\u2019une source d\u2019eau. Le probl\u00e8me de la source froide a \u00e9t\u00e9 soulev\u00e9 \u00e0 plusieurs reprises en France, notamment apr\u00e8s les canicules de 2003 et de 2006. Le refroidissement \u00e0 l\u2019air sec est une des options possibles. Cependant, \u00e9tant donn\u00e9 le besoin de surface d\u2019\u00e9change plus important, le changement de la source froide pour l\u2019air ambiant n\u2019est pas, dans la majorit\u00e9 des cas, viable \u00e9conomiquement.<\/p>\n<p>Une des solutions \u00e0 ce probl\u00e8me imagin\u00e9es \u00e0 EDF \u00e9tait de changer l\u2019architecture du cycle de production en consid\u00e9rant un cycle de production compos\u00e9 de deux cycles de Rankine en cascade, le premier fonctionnant avec de la vapeur d\u2019eau et le deuxi\u00e8me fonctionnant avec de l\u2019ammoniac dont la vapeur \u00e0 basse pression est beaucoup plus dense que celle de l\u2019eau. Cette solution permet de faciliter l\u2019utilisation d\u2019un a\u00e9rocondenseur et de r\u00e9duire la taille de la salle machine. En raison de la nature toxique et corrosive de l\u2019ammoniac, il est int\u00e9ressant d\u2019\u00e9tudier la possibilit\u00e9 de remplacer ce dernier par d\u2019autres fluides plus adapt\u00e9s, notamment en envisageant de nouveaux fluides pour lesquels peu ou pas de donn\u00e9es sont disponibles. Nous comparons les fluides sur le plan \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique et en terme de taille des composants de l\u2019installation.
