De tels milieux sont le si\u00e8ge de transferts thermiques complexes faisant intervenir des couplages entre les ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes fondamentaux de transfert : la conduction, la convection (g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement turbulente) et le rayonnement.<\/p>\n<p>Les exemples de telles situations sont nombreux; citons par exemple le cas des r\u00e9cup\u00e9rateurs d'\u00e9nergie thermique sur les fum\u00e9es \u00e0 haute temp\u00e9rature. Le plus souvent dans ce cas, l'\u00e9nergie r\u00e9cup\u00e9r\u00e9e est utilis\u00e9e pour pr\u00e9chauffer l'air de combustion dans des syst\u00e8mes tels que les fours ou les chambres de combustion etc. L'\u00e9nergie perdue peut \u00eatre, dans certaine conditions, r\u00e9duite de 60 \u00e0 75% \/Moreau et Bony 1986\/.<\/p>\n<p>D'autres situations plus pointues mettant en jeu des limitations technologiques de type temp\u00e9rature admissible aux parois du syst\u00e8me n\u00e9cessitent une \u00e9tude fine de ces ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes. Citons par exemple, la tenue thermique des mat\u00e9riaux \u00e0 haute temp\u00e9rature dans les chambres de combustion de moteur d'avion; il est important de pouvoir pr\u00e9dire le flux atteignant les parois et \u00e9ventuellement concevoir le syst\u00e8me de fa\u00e7on \u00e0 minimiser le flux. Dans d'autres syst\u00e8mes tels que les fours industriels ou certains \u00e9changeurs le but recherch\u00e9 est inverse; il s'agit d'obtenir un flux maximal d'\u00e9change entre les parois et le fluide de fa\u00e7on \u00e0 augmenter le rendement du syst\u00e8me.
