Ses performances hydrauliques, a\u00e9rauliques et thermiques sont compar\u00e9es \u00e0 celles d'un \u00e9changeur m\u00e9tallique qui sert de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence. L'objectif de l'\u00e9tude est d'atteindre des performances meilleures \u00e0 encombrement ou masse \u00e9quivalente. A cette fin, diff\u00e9rents types de surfaces d'\u00e9change ont \u00e9t\u00e9 envisag\u00e9es. Le faisceau tubulaire (chapitre II) constitue le premier type de surface utilis\u00e9e, puis un empilage de plaques alv\u00e9olaires lisses (chapitre III) a permis d'orienter l'\u00e9tude dans une autre direction.<\/p>\n<p>La conception, la r\u00e9alisation ainsi que des essais, d'une part d'une maquette \u00e0 tubes et d'autre part d'une maquette \u00e0 plaques lisses, ont \u00e9t\u00e9 effectu\u00e9s au GRETh (Groupement pour le Recherche sur les \u00c9changeurs Thermiques). Les r\u00e9sultats des essais sont pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s et compar\u00e9s \u00e0 ceux de la litt\u00e9rature. Puis, pour un encombrement identique \u00e0 celui de la batterie m\u00e9tallique, leurs performances sont compar\u00e9es dans des conditions identiques.<\/p>\n<p>Une \u00e9tude bibliographique relative \u00e0 l'intensification des \u00e9changes de chaleur, compl\u00e9t\u00e9e par des visualisations d'\u00e9coulement, permet de s\u00e9lectionner deux surfaces de plaques alv\u00e9olaires am\u00e9lior\u00e9es (chapitre IV). Des maquettes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9es et test\u00e9es sur une installation de laboratoire. Les r\u00e9sultats exp\u00e9rimentaux obtenus sont compar\u00e9s \u00e0 ceux d'une surface lisse.<\/p>\n<p>Enfin, une \u00e9tude locale de l'\u00e9coulement d'air entre deux plaques parall\u00e8les est effectu\u00e9e au chapitre V. Les performances a\u00e9rauliques et thermiques de la g\u00e9om\u00e9trie munie d'obstacles (s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9e au chapitre IV) sont compar\u00e9es \u00e0 celles d'une surface lisse.
